UCSWO and London’s Ugandan community connect during Africa Day
During the commemoration of Africa Day at Western University in London, UCSWO Board Directors met members of the Ugandan Community London Ontario Association (UCLOA), who had welcomed the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Uganda High Commission in Ottawa. The occasion brought Ugandans together in a setting that celebrated Africa’s people, cultures and contributions.
The engagement created an opportunity to strengthen relationships between UCSWO and the London community, exchange ideas and affirm a shared commitment to regional collaboration, belonging and community development.
Amb. @kajik5566, Chargé d’Affaires a.i. at the Uganda High Commission in Ottawa, welcomed UCSWO leadership during a courtesy visit. The meeting introduced the regional community’s work and underscored a shared commitment to strengthening engagement with the Ugandan diaspora across Canada.
For UCSWO, this engagement was an opportunity to represent Ugandans in Southwestern Ontario, build relationships and connect our young organization to wider diaspora conversations.

UCSWO officially launches: roots, belonging and a shared future
On October 19, 2025, community members gathered to celebrate the official launch of the Ugandan Community of Southwestern Ontario. The evening brought children, families, elders, volunteers and community leaders together around a shared hope: a strong regional home for Ugandans.
The launch honoured the people who helped build UCSWO’s foundations and placed the next generation at the heart of the celebration. It was more than a ceremony—it was a public commitment to unity, culture, accountable leadership and collective progress.

Why gathering matters
