Strong foundations create lasting change.

As a young association, our impact begins with connection: bringing people together, creating accountable governance, preserving culture, welcoming newcomers and developing partnerships.

A community built step by step.

Each milestone reflects the voluntary work, trust and participation of community members.
  1. Steering Committee formed

Community volunteers began shaping the association’s purpose, governance and regional focus.

  2. Inaugural Board established

The first Board of Directors took responsibility for accountable leadership and organizational development.

  3. Federal incorporation

UCSWO became a formally incorporated Canadian non-profit association.

  4. Community launch and first General Assembly

Members gathered to celebrate a shared beginning and affirm a community-led future.

  5. Regional and diplomatic engagement

UCSWO strengthened relationships in London, Ottawa and across Southwestern Ontario.

Coming together for Africa Day in London.

During the commemoration of Africa Day at Western University in London, UCSWO Board Directors met members of the Ugandan Community London Ontario Association (UCLOA), who had welcomed the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Uganda High Commission in Ottawa. The occasion strengthened relationships among Ugandans in the region and supported dialogue on collaboration, belonging and community development.
